Job vacancy: Heritage Adviser Planning
You can make a difference in New Zealand supporting the conservation of historic heritage. Your everyday business will involve working with a diverse range of local communities in managing a wide range of heritage planning processes relating to historic monuments, buildings, archaeological sites and places of significance to iwi.
Based in Christchurch
Heritage New Zealand is New Zealand’s lead agency for the identification, protection, preservation and conservation of our historical and cultural heritage. There is a vacancy for an experienced resource management planner for Canterbury and West Coast based in the Southern Region office in Christchurch. Some travel within these areas will be required.
This position provides a real opportunity to make a highly significant contribution as part of Heritage New Zealand’s Southern Region team in promoting the protection and conservation of New Zealand’s important historic places. Your expertise, personality and creativity is needed to complement a committed multidisciplinary team of specialists in our central city office.
The position involves proactive engagement with local authorities and property owners to develop strategies, policies, plans and consenting processes to recognise and provide for the retention and ongoing use of historic heritage. It is a busy, but rewarding, position for a planner with an understanding and appreciation of the importance of heritage and how it enhances the places New Zealanders call ‘home’.
A tertiary qualification in planning or related field is required.
