The National Committee has reviewed the Association's Strategic Plan which is set out below. It has been substantially revised and simplified, so that it now sets out clearly the Association's focus and goals.
Membership – to retain current multi-disciplinary membership and to attract new members.
Value for Money – to give all members value for their subscription through a national voice and regional activities.
Communication & Education – to continue to be a pivotal organisation for members to communicate with each other and to share education opportunities through our high calibre.
Conference – to provide successful annual conferences at venues around the country.
Support for Resource Management Issues and Involvement – to provide a graduate scholarship and to explore other avenues to encourage participation in resource management
Finances – to manage our funds in a fiscally responsible manner.
For the National Committee to provide a strong over-arching leadership, treasury and support role;
For the Regional Committees to provide a strong regional identity for RMLA, supported by financial assistance for seminars and other activities and by national "road shows".
Publications
To produce three Journals per annum with articles of a high quality which provoke resource management debate;
To produce six Newsletters per annum with the goal of keeping members informed of resource management issues, activities and members' news;
To maintain an exciting Web Page and explore the opportunities for interactive communication;
To encourage the Editorial Committee to continue to promote standards of excellence in RMLA publications.
Annual Conference
To hold an annual conference in different towns and cities in New Zealand capable of hosting predicted numbers;
To ensure that the conference continues to fulfil the expectations of members by providing excellent educational and professional "networking" opportunities;
To support the Conference Committee made up of members of the host regional committee and two members of the National Committee to provide an oversight role.
Seminars
For the National Committee to develop in consultation with Regional Committees at least two "road shows" per annum to address important topical issues and/or to provide a forum for visiting speakers;
For the Regional Committees to provide to members at least two seminars and two social events per annum (separately or combined).
Submissions
To provide submissions on all environmental legislation and, where relevant, on policy issues and resource management documents.
Scholarships and Other Incentives
To provide one or more post-graduate scholarships per annum where there are worthy recipients, out of an annual fund of $10,000;
To provide subsidised places at the annual conference for iwi, NGO's and students.
