Invercargill development proposal includes demolition of heritage buildings

The Invercargill City Council has received a resource consent application to develop a block within the inner city.

The first element of the application is the demolition of a number of buildings that includes two Category II buildings which are on the Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga register.

It is also proposed to alter the facade of another Category II building. Thirteen buildings which have Class 2 heritage protection in the Invercargill City District Plan are proposed to be demolished, while the facades of three Class 2 buildings will be retained. A Category I Heritage New Zealand Pouhere Taonga registered building will be incorporated into the development.

Submissions on the application will close on Friday, 16 November 2018.
