Senior and RMA Planner Opportunities
Location: Whangarei, Tauranga, Dunedin, Invercargill or Queenstown
We have fantastic opportunities for RMA professionals to positively contribute to the management of New Zealand’s natural resources. This is an exciting time to join DOC and grow your planning career within a highly experienced and motivated team environment.
The Department of Conservation’s vision is for New Zealand to be the greatest living space on Earth. It is responsible for some of the most important issues facing New Zealand – how to look after our unique environment in a way that benefits current and future generations. It grapples with issues as challenging as maintaining our unique biodiversity and providing for the increasing number of tourists coming to visit our beautiful places.
RMA Planner role overview:
Building on your technical knowledge and experience in RMA planning, there will be endless opportunities for you to be involved in conservation-related resource management issues across Aotearoa. You’ll be planning and consenting projects nationally, spanning across coastal and freshwater as well as indigenous biodiversity. Your expertise will be called to give advice to our Director General as well as presenting evidence at Environment Court hearings.
Senior RMA Planner role overview:
As an experienced resource management professional, you will need to have a high level of political acumen, advanced writing skills, and experience reviewing policy and planning documents. You will be leading responses for Ministerial briefings on behalf of the team so confidence in this area is critical. In our team we value coaching and development of all our staff; in your role you will play a pivotal role in this by supporting the coaching and mentoring of junior staff. There is an aspect of the role where your technical knowledge and expertise could be called upon to give advice to our Director-General as well as presenting or supporting evidence at Environment Court hearings.
