Tararua District Council : Planning Officer

As a consequence of lots of exciting developments happening in the District, the Council is looking to appoint either an experienced consents planner or a recent graduate with a planning/resource management qualification to its planning team.

Whilst relevant experience and qualifications are preferred, if you are someone with a related bachelor’s degree qualification and an interest in urban and rural or environmental planning and would be willing to work and study for a planning qualification with Council support, then we would be pleased to hear from you.

Based in the Tararua area, the successful applicant will need to have good customer service and communication skills, knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991, and a relevant tertiary qualification.

 The following skills and work experience are desirable:

  • A tertiary qualification in Planning or Resource Management.
  • 12 months’ experience in a similar role.

The Tararua District Council is responsible for Civil Defence in the Tararua’s and as a result, the successful applicant may be assigned an appropriate and agreed role, for which appropriate training will be provided.
