New bill to amend Public Works Act

The Public Works (Critical Infrastructure) Amendment Bill was introduced to Parliament on Monday 12 May.

The policy objective of the Bill is to streamline the land acquisition process under the Public Works Act 1981 for critical infrastructure projects (listed in the Bill).

These projects are public works listed in Schedule 2 of the Fast-track Approvals Act 2024, and Roads of National Significance that are identified in the Government Policy Statement on Land Transport 2024.
