PCE letter regarding West Coast conservation land reclassification

The Parliamentary Commissioner for the Environment has written to Minister of Conservation, Hon Tama Potaka, regarding his recent decision to not accord conservation park status for KAW_17 Mount Rochfort, as part of the reclassification of West Coast stewardship lands.

He noted that the ecological and scientific value of the Denniston plateau is highly significant, and that the classification accorded to it should reflect this. The Commissioner concluded his letter by requesting a meeting with the Minister to discuss the future of the plateau.
